Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

The brand does not make the important difference, but the ingredients do. For example, Alpina does not offer silicate or silicate-dispersion paint; all of their products are based on synthetic resin. However, if your plaster or wall construction is already based on synthetic resin, you can paint it with whatever you like. But if you have a mineral-based structure, applying a synthetic resin paint will destroy all the beneficial properties of the construction.

What is wrong with synthetic resin? I’m not experienced with paints so far, but we will be dealing with it soon as well.

Synthetic resin is vapor-tight. It’s like sealing the walls with plastic sheets.
A mineral-based paint allows the wall to regulate moisture. This means that if there is too much water vapor in the air, the walls absorb it, and when the air becomes drier again, the walls release the moisture back. This creates a more comfortable indoor climate.
Additional benefits include being eco-friendly, better suited for allergy sufferers, resistant to mold, and having more natural colors.
If you choose slightly more expensive paints, they are also washable, for example, if children have drawn on the walls or spilled cherry juice. I can personally confirm that the latter works well.

We applied Keim paint everywhere. ... Everything was purchased online, which worked very well. After 1-2 days, the new paint arrived.

Could you share where you bought it from?

And do you still use painter’s fleece underneath?
If yes, which type do you use to maintain the breathable effect?
Thank you

We left the "raw" lime plaster almost everywhere. Where paint was applied partially, we used products from Sto.
I wouldn’t let Alpina’s waste anywhere near my house anymore!
And by the way: just because paints from specialized stores are more efficient doesn’t mean they are more expensive (and it also saves time since you only need to paint once).
