Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Nice – are you building in Lower Bavaria or further north?
Today we went up through the forest via Altreichenau towards the "Steinerne Meer".

We want to have the patio door made as a lift-and-slide door. That would have cost about 3000 euros net extra – but it wasn’t worth it to us.

From the inside, the two left sections can be fully opened as a French casement. The third element on the far left is a regular additional door.

I was skeptical when deciding. Now I have to admit that I really like it, and most of all, we really like it.

What is the size of the glass area (height?) of the patio door? 3000 euros is crazy..

Who came up with the strange idea of trying that oddly slanted ratio between the widths of the head joints and bed joints on the bricks?

Oh, you are absolutely right! My parents also have white facing bricks. But it looks quite different somehow! Not only is the ratio off, the horizontal joint is also too wide. Unless that was intentional on your part...

What do you think?
Maybe it’s also due to the angled photo perspective? I’ll take another look later.
The brick is not white but sand-colored.
