Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Be sure to check with the heating system. You can really notice a difference between having underfloor heating and not. Especially right in the walking area...

Today, our underfloor heating was installed.
I noticed a large gap in the upper hallway.
No idea if this could be correct.
But I’m rather doubtful, right?

I assume the hallway does not have its own heating circuit. The pipes run to the individual rooms, so the gap should be fine.
I find the gap in image 3 at the bottom right more unusual. Also, the pipes are very close together there.

We have a separate heating circuit with a thermostat both in the upstairs and downstairs hallways, and the pipes run close together everywhere. With tiled floors, you can immediately feel the warmth from the underfloor heating, whereas the large area on your side remains cold, which is uncomfortable for walking barefoot.

But that doesn’t necessarily apply to @Loads. And who says the hallway will be tiled? In the upstairs hallway, the tiles won’t be freezing cold either, since it’s an interior area and will be at least room temperature. Having a separate heating circuit for the interior hallway shown would be overkill. The supply pipes running to the rooms will already provide more than enough heat, and the valves would almost always be closed. You could at most distribute the pipes more evenly to avoid temperature differences.

I also find the loophole at hip height quite interesting.

In our first build, there was also an opening like that at hip height. It was the window of my home office, and the desk was right there. I always loved it...
