I think we all want to build a nice home where we feel comfortable.
But I have to say, I don’t put everything into the house. It’s not my whole life; I actually prefer to spend money on traveling and seeing the world, and invest it in my child.
But to each their own, and that’s perfectly fine.
I’m sorry to hear about your parents!

How large is the pool?
There is definitely a difference between a couple building without children and a family building. Different priorities are set.
That’s also the great thing about this thread. So many different houses, all beautiful in their own way, even if you wouldn’t build that way yourself.

I am really looking forward to our sand-colored brick (Danish format) with light-colored mortar joints, light gray windows, and anthracite roof tiles. This also looks much better than light bricks with high-contrast mortar joints.
@Metalwerner: What kind of cladding is that, which looks different from the outside but doesn’t appear to have a different overall wall thickness in the floor plan compared to the other exterior walls? Or more specifically: what kind of substructure does it have?

That’s also what’s nice about this thread. So many different houses, all nice in their own way, even if you wouldn’t build like that yourself. The pool is about 2.20 x 2.20 m (7.2 x 7.2 ft), which is why the sliding lift-and-slide door had to wait until the platform was fully tiled. The pool cannot be moved because the structural engineering only allows this location.I understand that families build differently; we don’t have any children’s rooms either. It’s clear that with dual incomes and no children, the building approach is different. I have a lovely niece, and I know she’s looking forward to the house. But not just yet.

Or rather: what kind of substructure does it have?If I remember correctly, from inside to outside: drywall panel, 20mm (0.8 inch) OSB board, 200mm (8 inch) stone wool insulation, another OSB board, 100mm (4 inch) Pavatex wood fiber insulation, then the render. Overall about 40cm (16 inches). Basically, KfW 40 standard.
