Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Timber house under shell construction with green scaffolding, roof tiles, construction timber and building materials in the yard.

All our interior walls are now up, although we still need to install a few studs ourselves.
The house is closed in, and our site supervisor has left.

We are insulating the exterior walls ourselves and also handling the drywall / boarding of the interior walls. We are working hard on that. The electrician wants the walls boarded on one side by the end of April.
We already completed the rough plumbing installation; they are now waiting until all walls are prepared with the first plasterboard or double boarding. Then the underfloor heating will be installed.

You can also see a lot of chaos in the pictures.

And there are pictures (oh, and my foot was able to walk again after 3 weeks!)

I'm boldly sending the other pictures as well.

What you see there is loosely packed hemp insulation. It is quite easy to work with but creates a lot of dust.

Best regards

That looks very, very nice, and I really love the beautiful, light wood everywhere inside 🙂 Some of it can partly remain exposed and visible, right?
Will the trees also be left standing? That would be great.

@Pinkiponk The ceilings will stay as they are, and almost all exterior walls will be clad with wooden planks. Some of the interior walls will be as well. A few will be wallpapered, and some will remain white.

We want to maintain the character of a wooden house inside too.

That means less drywall, filling, and sanding. Just the wooden planks and one coat of glaze.

All the existing trees will remain!

Right behind the house, there is a forest that is also a nature reserve. A tiny part of it belongs to us too (forest, not nature reserve). We have already planted a total of 9 trees ourselves (2 apple, 2 pear, 2 cherry, 1 aspen, 1 hornbeam, and 1 field maple).

We plan to add about 30 meters (100 feet) of wildlife protection hedge and 1 or 2 more fruit trees. We are very lucky with our 1055 square meters (0.26 acres)!

Really great house! Even without any interior furnishings yet, it already feels like a comfortable place to live!

Thank you, that’s so kind!
I just cried again because there’s still so much to do and the next deadline is approaching.

It’s comforting to hear something positive.
