Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I actually preferred the side table that was there before. The sofa feels too bulky for that spot.

I don’t think so... if the ottoman and the other stuff were placed somewhere else 🙂
The seating itself is actually quite slim.

Yes, that’s the waiting bench until you get summoned to the householder...

... or the man’s waiting bench until the wife/wives of the house are finally ready to leave 🙂

It is simply practical to have a seating option in the entrance area. Especially when you want to put shoes on children.
Also, you can quickly take off jackets without always having to go to the wardrobe.

Here is a shot without wide-angle:

I don’t think it’s a bad idea if there’s space for it. However, there is a risk that the bench quickly gets covered with jackets and such out of convenience—especially with (somewhat older) children.

@Alessandro: How wide is the staircase? I assume about one meter (3.3 feet)?

I really like many aspects of the house. It doesn’t always have to be completely practical... 😉
