Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

That's right, it’s an electric grill. As long as you use the grilling plate (which we don’t use anyway), it can produce a lot of odors and grease vapors that may settle.

A small note: this is not about whether it bothers me, but rather that I have – once again – encountered very controversial opinions on this matter.

What are those controversial opinions? Of course, there are emissions, definitely more than with potato salad and sausages. You might consider them more or less problematic, but they certainly occur.
Whether, how much, and what you grill on top significantly affects the emissions.

I don’t want to overextend this topic here.

The opinions are as divided as they can be. Some people don’t care, while others take a very strict stance and are against it.
It’s probably like smoking cigarettes. If smoking happens occasionally in the apartment, it doesn’t matter (raclette). But if you smoke daily and heavily (stove in the kitchen), traces become visible and noticeable after a short time.

Brief off-topic:

Is there a way to have this thread also show up when I click on "Planning/Design Ideas/General Questions"? For months now, it hasn’t appeared for me when I select that section 🙄

I can only access this thread if it shows up on the forum homepage (basically when the latest post in the "Planning/Design Ideas/General Questions" subforum is from this thread).

Thanks in advance—especially for thinking about it, since I think I explained my problem quite complicatedly 😀

Raclette is great and doesn’t leave a greasy film, after all, it’s cheese 🙂 However, it’s important to use an old tablecloth because the many grease splatters have ruined my table before. And never forget the pizza dough, otherwise it’s only half as fun 😀

Some people are bothered by the cooking aroma, others are not. Some find it unpleasant, others perceive it as a scent. One person cleans every week anyway, another waits for a greasy film to form. Well, enjoy your raclette – and if someone calls it electric grilling, it doesn’t really matter.
We humans are just different!
