Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@Alessandro: Sunlight isn’t a big issue, but they still don’t get very bright. The advantage of the Arctia Betonplus is that there is a concrete slab at the bottom with a 2cm (1 inch) ceramic tile on top, so there’s no sealing or anything like that. We expect this to be very durable!

@shenja: That makes sense, because I think the Betonplus slabs are 5 or 6cm (2 to 2.5 inches) thick, or even 8cm (3 inches) if you choose the version that can be driven on. If we go with them, the slabs will be 80x40 (32x16 inches).

I also buy an expensive car and don’t drive it through a standard automatic car wash...
Using a high-pressure cleaner removes the top coating of the stones. As a result, the stone absorbs dirt, algae, etc., which you won’t be able to remove afterward.
The same applies to tiles and grout. When you clean them with strong chemical agents like Bref, Cillit Bang, and similar products, the top layer dissolves, making it easier for mold and stains from shower gel, shampoo, and so on to set in.

Our company that installed the paving told us the same. It’s best to avoid using a pressure washer because everything settles in faster afterward / it damages the stones.

But can't you adjust the pressure on a pressure washer like that? Or do you just not get so close?

Of course.
But you could also pay the gardener for cleaning every year. He would come with a soft brush and gently scrub the surface. ;-)

But seriously, these are outdoor coatings. They are meant to withstand that.

I would have thought so too, but if several people here say that they get dirty faster otherwise? Or is it a psychological illusion? The stones simply never get as clean without pressure washing, so the dirt is less noticeable afterward?

Furthermore, if it takes me 1 hour to clean the terrace with the pressure washer and 3 hours with a brush, how often can I then use the pressure washer to clean for the same amount of time, and on average, would it be cleaner that way...?
