Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

@annab377 I think you misunderstood my point. Furniture should be chosen based on quality (within the respective price range), not price or brand. Expensive doesn’t necessarily mean good.

For some fittings, it is necessary to rely on custom measurements, or sometimes you like something so much that, due to a lack of alternatives, you have to buy it as is.

I have been thinking for a while about getting a moss wall.
Cost: 400-600 euros per square meter (approximately 37-56 USD/sq ft) depending on the type of moss.

50 euros = 7.7 x 14 cm (3 x 5.5 inches) = 4638.22 euros per square meter (installed edge-to-edge) :-0

We also have a custom-built wall unit from a carpenter because there was nothing like it available on the market, or only very expensive options. I wanted a depth of about 17cm (7 inches) with doors, but that simply doesn’t exist. But why would I need more depth for CDs anyway... so the carpenter solved it very well.

And the thing will have already almost outlived the CD or already has.

Ooh, interesting topic... We also outsourced much of the interior finishing directly to the carpenter, mainly because I wanted to use the same wood throughout—stair railings, doors, kitchen island, exposed wood walls, as well as the wardrobe, dressing room, and mudroom. For the kids’ rooms, however, I was actually thinking about Ikea, but unfortunately, shopping there isn’t possible right now. They’ll probably have to sleep on the floor for the time being.
