Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Nice, but the step is a real deal-breaker

Why?

I also like these zoning concepts, and I love the houses from the 1950s/60s where this is included, but my argument against these steps would be their width. I would have made them twice as deep, so a full stride instead of half.

That we would then have to question the entire house AND the plot (16m (52 feet) height difference). That would no longer be manageable and we would look for a different solution.

A reasonable concession

Yep, I agree with you, Yvonne. That would have been doable since the stove actually dictates the width. We’ll do it next time. Can you hear my husband fainting?

I noticed that too, but I think it looks really stylish! It feels very harmonious and is somehow an eye-catcher.
I like it as well... it somehow looks like the floor is flowing down the steps.

Small update: The window sills are installed....

Exterior wall made of light gray bricks with two tall windows, construction equipment, and a ladder.

It looks great. Could you please share the manufacturer of the window sills? What material are they made of?

Thanks!

Nero Assoluto from Africa (granite)
3cm (1.2 inches) thick (the upper one in the photo unfortunately had to be 2cm (0.8 inches))... I think I will take some pictures from above as well; my interior sills are the same.

I would always compare samples directly on the window and the facade.

The quality is excellent.
