Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I hope that this saying from the architect does not reflect his attitude towards you as clients.

The architect is really great and has always been on our side. But he never held back and was brutally honest. With architects who just say “could it be a bit more?” and “I’ll do whatever you want,” we would have ended up in serious trouble. Not everything you come up with yourself is good or right. The same goes for the construction coordinator.

The best line was when I wanted something... “Have you recently found a suitcase full of money that I don’t know about?”

That makes me happy. We always felt that both our architect and our construction manager were very thoughtful and collaborative partners. We got caught up in many details but found good solutions. As a layperson, I would never have managed to achieve this on my own.

A small view from my terrace once it is finally finished.

Wide grain field behind three tree trunks in the foreground, unpaved path

Sunlight through a row of trees over a wide grass field; foreground with dirt path and stack of boards.

That looks like a painting by Walter Leistikow. Very beautiful.

I had to look him up first. You're right, it’s as if he was sitting on my terrace.
