Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Just the thought of painting makes me feel sick. As a child and teenager, I had to paint my father's fence every 3 years. It was over 50 meters (165 feet) of fence with small and narrow rails.

Climbee, great photos and a really impressive project to follow! I have a question: how does the ventilation work in your house? Were any special measures taken to prevent condensation, especially on the basement walls during summer?

We need to oil our facade every 2 years, so you just have to dedicate a weekend to it.
We don’t like the gray color.

We will have mechanical ventilation with heat recovery installed, so that shouldn’t be a problem. Without mechanical ventilation, you would just ventilate normally, as in other houses. Although, a wooden house generally does not have moisture issues like masonry walls do.

And you weren’t as clever as Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, selling the “painting job” to the neighbor boys?

No, like with climbee, a rhombus-shaped larch wood facade, untreated and oiled. But only on the ground floor, so you only need a ladder for painting.
