Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Okay. That’s true. But at least it’s only 10 years and not 40 (working years).

Anyway, I just wanted to say that there’s no reason to complain. Here, people typically earn about half and pay around 100€/m² (9.3$/ft²). With a nowadays “standard” size of 500 m² (5,382 ft²), it takes about 8 years until the price difference is balanced out, and for the (majority of) rest of your life, you earn twice as much.

Simply put.

So, the underfloor heating has been repaired. At the moment, it looks dry, but we are still waiting for a few responses from the builder.

In the meantime, the main bathroom is continuing to be tiled, and we are still very satisfied with our tile choices. Even though the selection was made 9 months ago...
^The bathtub surround looks great! Do you have a photo of it once the grout has been applied?

Alright, that issue has been resolved on the page after next.

The roof on our house is now finished.

Today, the front door was installed. However, the door panel will be removed in the next few days and replaced with a particleboard panel to protect it from damage during the construction phase.

Due to the high outside temperature, they were able to finish the weather-exposed side with reinforcing plaster today. Tomorrow is expected to be warm again, but after that, work will unfortunately have to pause because of the colder temperatures coming.

It is once again clearly visible in post #4822 by gmt94 how to improperly seal a floor-to-ceiling element (here: front door) at the transition to the concrete slab.
