Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I don’t think you can see it at all; I think it looks good. But sometimes I believe I see something different than others do.

P.S. Towels dry better on the ladder.

Why is he such a penny pincher?
A unit like that surely costs no less than a few thousand meters of pipe and is probably less efficient because of the mixing valve in the system, right?

Heating engineers charge well for it, provided they know about it.
The ladder-type heating element is electric, so there’s no mixing valve involved.
He is a smart saver because he knows how to build economically (not cheaply!).

Okay, maybe it’s really just me, but I would never have a single-lever mixer in the shower again. That was the only point I was referring to.

Are you mocking the towel radiator? First of all, it’s listed in the construction specifications. Better to be careful than to give the contractor a gift, right? It’s only used for hanging towels; the bathroom stays warm thanks to the underfloor heating. We don’t need it for heating. That’s why it’s electric and controlled by a light switch with an indicator LED. If you accidentally leave it on too long, the light shows that it’s still consuming power. And what’s the point of a wall heater when there’s underfloor heating? Warm is warm, double heating is unnecessary.

Giving the plumber the finger… well, he did sell us a washbasin for 1,200 with a cabinet above it. Otherwise, there’s just a utility room sink and a second outdoor tap. That’s it. My wife refused a shower glass wall because she doesn’t want to clean glass. A rain shower and such are nonsense to us. Showering is showering, even with a handheld showerhead. A mixer faucet with temperature control? I can feel if it’s too hot; no need to watch a display. A single-lever mixer is proven technology and has worked for decades.

For bathroom furniture, we still have some teak pieces left, which look good with white. We still need to buy toilet paper holders and such. Those will come at Aldi in September. Then we will stock up.

The premium toilets and sinks the plumber showed us didn’t look any better than these Duravit models. So why bother?

Yes, he made an effort but was largely unsuccessful. That’s how it is. Karsten

Where is the advantage with the others?
I’m not familiar with them.
I would have simply chosen something like Grohe Euphoria as well.

@Karsten, what was the additional cost for the utility sink? We still need that as well.
