Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

This is what the heat pump with side cover looks like now ...

Just a quick question. Does the heat pump get enough airflow? It looks like you might be restricting its air intake.

Yes, there are large air gaps around it (for example, angled at the back and bottom). It heats the house and the water – and I have the comforting knowledge that I no longer burn oil.
Without the sidewall, the unit had a "hiccup" during winter once (something froze and made loud rattling noises). Closing that side was the advice from our installer, who, according to his own statement, is still getting familiar with heat pumps.
I trust him, and so far it’s working well.

@South This is the first time I’ve regretted tearing down the cowshed.

What you’re creating there is a dream.

Maybe you would regret it less if I said that we wouldn’t have done the project in this form if we had estimated the scope (time/cost) more realistically. Our opinion might have been different without COVID, including construction cost increases and unexpected (or expected) new additions to the family.

However, if you have enough money and the right company, I would always choose to renovate an old farmstead. I just love the atmosphere.

Then I'll share my new terrace. I created a separate thread for the construction.

Wooden deck terrace in front of a white house with dining table and chairs as well as a parasol; loungers and flowers.

Since my quote is also included in your post: I have no regrets. We were able to fulfill a different dream. I believe I can see a great deal of successful individual realization. That makes me happy for you.

It looks very nice. Are there any pictures showing more – the entire garden area including the house?

Best regards
