We would have preferred a single level as well, but the plot was too small for that. The yellow was “actually” a very light shade, where you couldn’t tell if it was yellow or cream. Now it really turned out yellow. We’re okay with it—at least it’s a sunny color. 🙂

Addendum: In the top window there is still some kind of ventilation unit, which will be removed again.

I imagined it differently, but I never saw 3D drawings. It’s hard to judge the most appealing size and spacing of the windows in relation to each other and to the roof. But I assume that with good landscaping it will at least look like a “normal” house.

You should have asked us how to get an off-white, cream, or something similar. You always mentioned wanting yellow… it’s not my preferred color, but I don’t find it that bad. Just wait until it’s furnished 🙂

What is the purpose of the room on the upper floor that spans the entire width of the house?

I would have skipped the side window overlooking the neighbor’s house wall. It would always be "blacked out" in my case.

If I understood you correctly, that’s the bathroom on the upper floor. We chose to make it a bit larger because my athletic husband wanted a sauna and, being taller, needs a longer bathtub. Also, I personally like having open space around me, no matter where I stand or walk. 🙂 I quickly start feeling “closed in.”

The window is simply meant to let in natural daylight. Regarding views in and out, we will manage that if needed. I don’t yet have a clear idea of how, when, or which neighbors might see inside our house and from which windows we would like to look outside. Usually, neighbors darken their rooms, which I find quite pleasant. ;-)
