Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

No! I’d rather post a picture of a house:

Metal sink, below it a Yoda doll, toilet paper and a bottle.

In my opinion, it shouldn’t be about one type of car, but about all of us behaving more resource-consciously in every aspect of life. This applies equally to the obsession with clothing, meat consumption, always importing the most distant tropical fruits, heating habits, unnecessary electricity use, delivery services, and countless other things.
If I’m not mistaken, food delivery services are going public! Companies like Lieferando, Hellofresh, and others have become market giants (I honestly wasn’t aware of this until recently), if I remember correctly. These resource-consuming users and frequent customers are right here among us, and when I ride my bike or snack on grass, but at the same time, my behavior is helping to boost these companies’ stock value, the balance doesn’t quite add up—and I’m far from blameless myself.
We have a nice but, compared to others, just a simple Ikea kitchen, and we only once ordered from Lieferando, and that was at a hotel during a downpour outside. Nowadays, professional kitchens are common and the revenue of food delivery services is exploding… huh???
I’m not a car enthusiast, but the problem certainly doesn’t lie only there.
I would gladly accept a 130km/h (80mph) speed limit and, if it were applied sensibly, even higher fuel costs. That would make people seriously consider whether this or that trip is really necessary, and whether lowering the room temperature by one degree Celsius (about 2°F), showering two minutes less, or no longer washing the car, etc., doesn’t still allow for a comfortable life. There are so many levers to adjust—and everyone has enough of them.
If it were up to me, companies like Lieferando, Zalando, and others would all go bankrupt.
Furthermore, I’m always surprised that terms like “standard of living” or “comfort” are almost exclusively measured by money or other calculable values here. But comfort can also come from peace, time, beauty, friendliness with neighbors, simplicity… all of which cost nothing—no money—and are often neglected.
I’m not saying I’m an expert in this wisdom, but thinking a bit more in this direction makes things easier for me when I can no longer afford certain things financially.

Everyone should be free to drive whatever they want.
As long as they also take responsibility for the damage they cause. Fuel and diesel are still way too cheap for this mindset.

In the end, people prefer to be in an SUV rather than a Polo in an accident.
And what does that mean?
"Everyone upgrade!" and buy bigger and heavier vehicles?
The consequence: eventually, people won’t feel safe unless their vehicle is armored. Trasco will be happy.

This shows again how understandable behavior from individuals can lead to absurd results when added up.
