Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Our old butcher’s kitchen wasn’t tiled all the way up to the ceiling

That probably wouldn’t be allowed today... no idea, but it doesn’t really matter.

On the other hand, rooms with tiles all the way up in white still give this kind of impression. No matter how “clean” the homeowner thinks it is, most people are put off by the look. You can see it here as well

In our house, the tiles go all the way up only in the walk-in showers. The rest is finished with paintable plaster. So far, nothing is dirty.

On the other hand, very high-tiled rooms in white do give that impression. No matter how "clean" the homeowner thinks it is – most people are put off at first sight. You can see that here too
Let it be finished. We also have a fully tiled bathroom here and so far no one has seen a slaughterhouse [emoji16]

Here, fully tiled bathrooms up to the ceiling were not considered offensive by anyone. One should not necessarily generalize their personal taste. Otherwise, I could also claim that =>people<= think those with only half-tiled bathrooms simply ran out of money..

Old farmhouse, mostly for personal use.
Slaughtering pigs, bleeding out, scalding, and butchering was done in the yard. The pigs hung under the barn roof until the structural inspection was done.
So, not allowed under current EU regulations, and it wasn't repackaged or relabeled for sale.

On the other hand, with very high-tiled rooms in white, people still tend to have this association.

Do the same people then probably associate "purple" with dairy cattle? I come from a family of butchers and have never associated white tiles with slaughterhouses. It seems to me that this is a cliché.
