Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Did you contact the forest ranger then? Deer do tend to follow cultivated areas, and from their perspective, your carport might resemble a sufficient shelter. However, shy wildlife rarely ventures far out from good cover. While the forest ranger might not need to take action here, I think it’s sensible to inform them.

OK, good to know. The neighbor is a retired forest ranger; I will get in touch with him.

Hmm, with a delicate apple-onion-bacon filling and roasted in Calvados rose wine, it’s a masterpiece! Who knows how good it can taste?

Yesterday evening, a deer surprised us in the carport... 🙂
We live right in the city center.

Ever thought about getting a hunting license? 😀

I’m hungry.

Honestly, I almost explain this to the deer every day, especially the ones near the car. They just look dumbfounded and step a few paces aside.

Yesterday evening, when it was already dark, I was cycling through a forested area. At the edge of the forest, a deer almost ran into me. I don’t know who was more startled, me or the animal. But a collision with deer while on a bike – I’m not sure who would come off worse in the end...

Deer are indeed animals that adapt to human environments, and your carport might resemble a shelter enough from a deer's perspective, but shy wildlife rarely wanders far out from good cover.

This is normal; during winter, we often heard knocking on the front door but never saw anyone.
Until one day, I looked through the door window and at the same moment a deer raised its head on the other side and looked me in the eye.
We stared at each other for about 15 seconds, then the deer slowly lowered its head and you could hear it walk away.
The deer had been nibbling on our bushes.
