Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

I really like the look...

I'm curious to hear about the practical experience.

Behind the sink, is that CPL (continuous pressure laminate) or real wood?

@tumaa All oak surfaces are lacquered veneer. We are also looking forward to it.

A few questions:

- Do oil splashes or similar stains affect it?

- Is it a closed kitchen?

- Who designed the kitchen?

@tumaa You will need to wipe off oil splatters fairly often. Let’s see how often that turns out to be.

The kitchen, facing the direction from which most photos were taken, is open to the living area. In the photo below, you can see the kitchen in the back center, still without any furniture.

We planned the entire kitchen and took those plans to the kitchen showroom.

Bright living space with wooden floor, open doorway, and construction work in the background.

I'll put it differently... I really don’t want to say this, but this kitchen will be rather impractical.

I just hope that won’t be the case for you.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their opinion. We have carefully analyzed our routines and preferences and largely designed the kitchen accordingly. I see us well prepared with plenty of countertop space (especially around the sink), ample storage (storage planning…), appliance locations (fridge > sink > countertop > cooktop), and so on. But in the end, it’s mostly theory and the real test is still ahead.
