Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

What are those pronounced contrasts on the brickwork?

This is supposed to be something like the "Münsterländer Kohlebrand" technique. On closer inspection, there are glossy, glass-like spots or ash-black areas contrasting with the otherwise classic red brick. In some places, there are even pronounced protruding ridges.

Choosing the right mortar color will be a real challenge. It could easily ruin the whole effect. At the moment, we are leaning towards a gray that is not too dark.

Well ... you can maybe pick up certain inspirations "between the lines." To me, the houses seem very sterile, which is probably because no one is living there. But hey! Who needs a YouTube channel when there is this forum 🙂

Sure, I watched it too. I even visited one of the houses myself, and that's when we noticed the difference between our own critical perception on site and the polished, uncritical video.

Sometimes there is criticism or suggestions during the lady’s tours. We also visited model homes. However, the ones we toured did not convince us in many respects.

What is the window sill height in the kitchen?

It looks like you’ve simply hung the lowboard too high. Wasn't it available at 60cm (24 inches) height?

I didn’t want it at 60cm (24 inches) high... I prefer the length-to-height ratio this way much better.
