Hello,

It would be really great if everyone here could just post one or a few pictures showing the current state of their house.

I'll start right away.

For renovations, it’s best to provide a comparison of before and after the remodeling.

Before March 2014:

After May 2015:

Super practical, but really ugly. Well, I guess form follows function here.
I find it quite questionable to judge the aesthetic without having seen anything. At least everyone should be allowed their own taste. Imagine if everyone had your taste—super boring—and everyone had married your wife.

I also find traditional mirrored cabinets somewhat unattractive, or rather, they have a very nostalgic “old-fashioned” feel to them. However, I can imagine them recessed into drywall installations, and maybe I just haven’t seen designs yet that I would actually find stylish.

I don’t know your taste, but try googling “aluminum mirrored cabinet.” There’s nothing nostalgic about those.

I did some research, for example with Agape and other Italian suppliers... there were some nice pieces, but sometimes priced like a used car 🤨 The typical vanity cabinet with an 80cm (31.5 inch) width and frosted glass wouldn’t be enough for me either. However, I’m always impressed and like what people with good taste can create from “little”; unfortunately, the opposite is true as well 😀. The “mainstream” style probably often comes from buying into a predetermined taste, and a higher price alone often only suggests the one “better” taste.

Apart from the fact that I’m not allowed to bring aluminum to my wife, I quickly looked it up, and yes, 95% already seems quite nostalgic.
But that doesn’t really matter.

Built into the wall, with integrated lighting and ideally heating to prevent fogging. Really cool.
And without a mirror in the bathroom, it would be difficult; it has to be somewhere.

I find the boxed-in shelf holding all the tubes, toothbrushes, etc., much less appealing.
