I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I just received the bamboo delivery.
This afternoon, the excavator will come to dig the trench, and I’ll manage to finish the preliminary work over the weekend. 🙂

Well then, make some serious noise 😉.

Do you use a root barrier, or is Santa bringing a machete? I believe bamboo grows fast... in all directions 😳

I chose a Fargesia variety (Ivory Ibis). These grow in clumps and do not produce underground rhizomes, so a rhizome barrier is not necessary.

The fact that it grows quickly is also intentional. They are meant to screen the higher terrace of the neighbor and provide privacy from that very terrace onto our property. For this purpose, they need to reach a height of 3m (10 feet). 😉

They grow in dense clusters...

That would make me even more worried—not that you’ll soon have a whole bunch of Seehofers in your garden. Although, for privacy screening, maybe not a bad thing after all.

Then you can think about the machete again... 😀

You will end up regretting the bamboo in 5-6 years, unfortunately I speak from experience. It grows everywhere and even breaks through asphalt and paving; your neighbor will soon have reason to complain as well.
