I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

The stones are not for durability but to protect against heat and cold, to prevent drying out in summer, and to allow for additional fertilization through the compost in the center.

Your dog has plenty to chase. Maybe he will share the hare.

The statistical data is in. Or rather, when waiting at the veterinary clinic, a woman needs a distraction.

In 2019, we had the highest precipitation since 2007.
Unfortunately, it was unevenly distributed. There were only above-average and below-average amounts.

Neither did we. We had 70% of the usual rainfall. But this is purely an average figure. In fact, there were only two wet months, while the others were much too dry, with February being the worst at just 11% of the normal amount. The two very wet months balance out the average, but not the plants.

The summer with little rain and heat was not good. Even the old tree suffered.

50 km (31 miles) away is the town with the lowest rainfall in Bavaria. It receives only about half of our amount.

Yes, that’s crazy. We’ve had a few heavy rain events. Once, underpasses 3km (1.9 miles) away were flooded and impassable, while here it was just a light drizzle!

Last year, the heavy rain wasn’t too bad. 2018 was a different story. Since then, we no longer park over the manhole cover at my parents’ place—even though they live fairly high up on the hill.
