I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Are there any long-term experiences with bamboo in the garden? There seem to be quite invasive varieties that quickly spread through their rhizomes in the surrounding area.

Do you install bamboo in root barriers? Or are there less aggressive varieties?

Thank you very much!

I don’t understand what makes bamboo environmentally unfriendly. It’s like reed, just growing on dry ground. Birds can even nest in it...

Fargesia varieties remain clumping.
However, they also grow thicker in diameter. Bamboo dries out quickly and loses its leaves if it doesn’t receive enough water 🙁

Anything is better than a stone desert.

I completely agree. The reasoning is simple: bamboo is better than nothing. And that was the alternative. I need a privacy screen around 3 to 4m (10 to 13 feet) tall but don’t want to wait 10 years for it to grow properly. On top of that, it should be evergreen.

Unfortunately, I can no longer tell what type of bamboo that was for us. However, the arrangement in your picture raises many questions.

Then just ask your questions when you have them. 😉
And no, I don’t just want a privacy screen facing my parents. There will also be hedges on both the left and right sides, but you can’t do everything at once.
