I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

In the drought monitor (you can look it up) you can unfortunately see the whole drama.
It feels like it has been pouring here for weeks now (typical Sauerland weather đ). But the reservoirs are still not full again, and the water just hasn't reached the lower layers yet.
So Iâm trying to appreciate the rain as well. But sometimes, somehow, that just doesnât work anymore...

hampshire16 Jan 2020 16:33Great weather, took a day off, and just got to work. It went really well.
Placed a birdhouse on the fence:

Built 3 permaculture âmid-height raised bedsâ W x D x H 300 x 100 x 58 cm (10 x 3.3 x 1.9 ft):

We still need a fourth one because we plan a four-year crop rotation cycle. Unfortunately, I didnât have enough materials for it, so off to the timber yard.
The British greenhouse was also delivered today, but it will need a foundation first.

I really like that! What do you plan to plant in it?
Just took a look at the front garden: daisies, borage, a primrose, moss phlox, and periwinkle are blooming.

hampshire16 Jan 2020 17:20The focus is on edible plants. Therefore, the beds are located beneath the terrace on the "basement level" and accessible from the kitchen. My wife is in charge of the planting plan; she knows which plants to combine so they protect each other from pests. This way, we avoid using pesticides. I will ask her more about it when I get the chance.
