I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

A fence is a must here. Big city, kids, dog ^^
I'm gradually looking forward to the next gardening season again. My brother grows vegetables, and I usually help out now and then. Otherwise, I stick to my berries, perennials, roses, and hydrangeas. Vegetable gardening just isn’t really my thing.

Well, we don’t have a fence—just a hedge. Once it becomes dense, no one will get through it either because of the hawthorn. Still, I like picket fences for garden sections, but my husband isn’t on board with that; he finds them unattractive.
As for vegetables... except for lettuce, most of last year’s didn’t turn out well because of the wrong location. We’ll see—this year I want to try growing corn.

Fencing is also a bit of an urban trend... On our side of the street with odd house numbers, everyone from number 1 to 9 has no fence, just thuja, hornbeam, and privet hedges, which are enough to mark the boundaries. On the opposite side, with the even numbers, most residents are former big-city dwellers and almost all have fences. They also have electric gates and doorbells at their garden entrances. Our neighbor has a dog, we have a cat, and without a fence, the animals have become friends, and I have a good relationship with the neighbor as well.
I have also seen light barriers used as fencing.
In new residential developments, the exact type and height of the fencing is specified. So, it is not always up to the builders.
Fortunately, our existing property is without any regulations.
With a pool and so on, it would be irresponsible to have no fencing. Besides, we also want privacy.

A fence is for cowards. Brave Vikings live without fences, that’s what freedom is about.Brave Vikings have a stone wall.
And about the thuja, do you happen to have a cemetery on your street? Terrible plant.
No, we have a Jack Russell and I want to let him run freely in the garden without having to be there all the time. I also want the children to be able to play freely. In addition, all their dogs would be allowed in our garden without a fence, as we live by the sidewalk. We only have 80 centimeters (31.5 inches) to the neighbors, which is enough for the dog. The other terraced houses have no fences between them, but all around the outside. I’m not really a fan of hedges.
