I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

The friendly man at the home improvement store didn’t want to sell us Blaukorn @Nordlys, at least not for our weed-clear lawn. He sold my husband something from Compo instead. When he started explaining things like mowing four days in advance, then watering, then not watering anymore, I walked away. That’s just not for me. At least not in the garden.
This late afternoon, a thunderstorm came through. The rain stopped after five minutes and evaporated. So, we need to water today.
So far, everything is thriving—except the zucchini.

The meadow looks great! Did you just mow the different textures/paths in, or did you do something special for that? I'm thinking about having a meadow like that in the front garden. I first mowed a path around the outside so I could reach the hedge and a flower bed without trampling everything with the hose. Then the goosefoot from the wildflower mix quickly took over, so I mowed a few more paths across to give the other plants a chance. I actually didn’t want to do it with the mower; I’m taking a scything course in mid-July and want to stop using the mower after that...

Blaukorn is outdated. It’s a short-term booster, temporary effect, but does not improve the soil in the long run @ypg
The consultant must have known that as well. Karsten advised me that here on the forum. That’s why I approached him personally.
Oh, I like hedgehogs! We have one during the winter as well. In the first year (the year we moved in), we cut down an old willow tree in late autumn because it was completely eaten up by willow beetles. And what just barely escaped the chainsaw? A hedgehog! We then relocated it to hibernate elsewhere. I never thought they would hibernate in places like that, such as a damp, musty tree trunk. Thank goodness my husband spotted it just in time.
My grandmother always has some too. Currently, she is feeding an old blind hedgehog every day because otherwise, it definitely wouldn’t have survived.
I am really enjoying our beautiful garden at the moment. And I’m already thinking about new projects—otherwise, it would get boring, right^^. My brother and I already have some projects in mind to optimize our vegetable and berry cultivation. I recently visited the Brandenburg State Garden Show in Wittstock an der Dosse (highly recommended!) during my vacation, and I got a lot of inspiration there.
