I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Yes, as I said, except for the little trees, newly planted or sown plants are not watered at all here, and they still look green and healthy. The neighbors water half the day, yet their thuja trees are dying for the third time, and their lawn looks yellow.
Using native plants adapted to the local site usually works well – and if the perennials don’t survive the summer, they usually regrow the following year. My garden is all insect-friendly, but not entirely native. I aim to have about 90% native species. Invasive plants I remove immediately.
I can always recommend NaturaDB, a great database for selecting plants.
However, caution is needed with insect-friendly mixes, as many contain non-native plants that only support generalist insects. They are not suitable for young insects, which mainly depend on native plants. I always recommend using regional seeds; options like “Tausende Gärten Tausende Arten” offer this.
Wishing you lots of success with your garden; it already sounds really great. I’m still waiting for hedgehogs 🙂

...Great tips, thanks for that. 🙂 And, not to brag, ;-) but imagine, we even have a hedgehog. I recently saw it running pretty fast. However, that’s mostly thanks to our neighbor, who basically runs a hedgehog care station and always feeds them during lean times. She says they even tap on her patio door window when their bowls are empty.
I recently sent Natura DB two suggestions because they encouraged feedback so convincingly in the P.S. of their newsletter. 🙂

Bertram1005 Aug 2023 20:15You have everything in great shape at your place! Even the tomatoes turned out well. 🙂 Mine are late and have split because of the rain. Well, not too bad—I’m still a beginner after all. Accordingly, my garden looks the way it does. 😀
All the ground cover plants I planted have let me down. I’ll have to come up with something for next year. Right now, it looks a bit bare in the front. If anyone has ideas for low-growing plants that bloom, are colorful, and do well in partial shade (east-facing garden), I’d love to hear your suggestions.

@Steffi33
GREAT
Here in the Mühlviertel region, we are almost 4 weeks behind with harvesting the tomatoes.
Every time I see your garden pictures, I wonder how you manage to handle all the work.
Do you also work a job? Do you get help with planting, watering, harvesting, and processing?
