I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I’m happy to share some garden photos again in 2025… now in our seventh year living in the house.
In the second-to-last photo, there is a door “flush with the floor.” What is it used for? Did you build it yourself?

That is the earth cellar from the aforementioned thread.

Yes, that's right... the door leads to the earth cellar. It has proven useful for storing potatoes, pickled cucumbers, preserved fruit, and sometimes even a cake during hot summers. In winter, the cellar stays frost-free (that’s where I overwinter my ornamental lilies), and during the hottest summer days (over 30°C (86°F)), the temperature remains between a maximum of 17 to 19°C (63 to 66°F).

That sounds good.
We have a sloped garden, and from time to time I think about digging a room into the hill (which otherwise can’t be used). But it will probably be too expensive… and there’s quite a lot to do otherwise as well…

... I have now looked at the "earth cellar construction report" and remain impressed. What stands out to me in these latest garden photos is the amount of "discipline" it takes to keep everything so tidy. Our place looks considerably messier and more cluttered – which I don’t mind, but there is something to be said for neatness as well 🙂

Anyone who feels their garden still looks too much like a construction site might find inspiration in this improvised pond with a fountain.

Large wheel loader with bucket full of muddy water; smartphone inside; two people in the background.
