I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Ah great, I’ll take a closer look at that. I still need to check the wind sensitivity. The wind often blows quite strongly and would hit them straight “in the face.”
I think up to about 1.50 meters (5 feet) would still be okay. It’s not about completely blocking us off so no one can see that I’m in the garden, but more about creating a bit of coziness (we don’t even have a fence with the neighbor).

I also like Echinacea and can easily imagine it in front of the perennials.

The wind could indeed become a problem since perennials usually have thin stems and no branches like shrubs do. Perhaps a loose flowering hedge made of shrubs could be an alternative?

We have shrubs that are intended to form a privacy screen over time. All are different, with various blooming periods, so there is always something visually appealing.

My flowering hedge is slowly starting to take shape. The summer lilacs have grown quite large; I already had to prune them because they were spreading so much. The forsythia is finally really starting to establish itself. The weigela and smoke bush are also growing nicely. The jasmine is growing more slowly, but that’s normal. For some reason, my ranunculus has almost completely disappeared, so I planted a white forsythia in its place. These are said to be interesting for bees, unlike their yellow counterparts. The first bloom was also very pretty, pink and white. Overall, I think in about 1 to 2 years this flowering hedge will provide some privacy screening. Planted in autumn 2018.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a large plot of land, so I mounted the raised bed against the wall. Our daughter will be happy; a few cucumbers and 2-3 melons will definitely grow.

Happy Easter.

Right now, having your own garden is a wonderful retreat and truly valuable.
