I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I have several flower meadows and a piece of natural meadow that have only been mowed twice a year for the past three years. My neighbors definitely find this very nice 😉.
In the side front garden, I am currently growing dead-nettles, which have already covered 2 square meters (22 square feet). A real magnet for bumblebees.

We also have wild growth here, and last spring I had a lot of flaxweed in all colors, meadow foamflower, poppies, and grasses in the meadow. After that came cornflowers, chamomile in large amounts (it was an explosion of fragrance), daisies, and even more grasses. Then, in autumn, wild carrot appeared, growing in huge clusters over 2m (6.5 ft) tall, and a lot of chicory. According to identification guides, chicory usually grows between 50-120cm (20-47 inches). Mine almost all shot up to 2m (6.5 ft) tall, growing in thick bushes. It always looked great in the mornings, with bright blue flowers. Unfortunately, in the sun from midday onwards, the flowers close, so the garden looks quite scruffy at that time :-D But in autumn, we were rewarded with regular visits from up to 10 European goldfinches, which picked out all the seeds they could find.
I’m curious to see what will grow this year. What I will definitely do, though, is mow a slightly wider path around the beds so I can reach everything more easily and you can walk through the garden without immediately disturbing hordes of bees, hoverflies, spiders, grasshoppers, field wasps, robber flies, beetles, bugs, and various other small creatures...

I’ve had our dandelion problem under control since last year—thanks to a long weeding tool. I really don’t like dealing with it at all. Instead, we struggle with moss… anyway, at the moment, no gardening is happening, just walks, which are still allowed 😉
Afterwards, I sit on the steps and stretch my muscles… despite the gloomy weather, the view is still quite pleasant. How about you?
