I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Shocked, because the last time I saw the hedge it was maybe two years old. It wasn’t such a monster back then; nice ground spotlights would have created a nice effect. Something like this would be way too much for me, not to mention the maintenance.
I also have bamboo, but not like that and not 6 meters (20 feet) tall.
It probably bothers me because it’s “just” a hedge. I plant differently, with layers, so for me there would be something in front of the hedge, lower and so on. It probably also bothers me that there is this large wall of the house—I’m not used to sitting on the terrace and looking at such a tall wall. To the right of the bamboo, there is a pool (from the previous owners).

Yes, although I think it might be a bit exaggerated. Of course, there are pollutants everywhere, but going for a run in the city once is probably worse.
People are living longer than ever and continue to live longer.
The awareness of pollutants is probably more harmful (through psychosomatic effects) than actually having them in the body.
And the fact that watching TV is unhealthy is nothing new 😉

A note for home growers: use good soil, know your ground (for example, nitrate levels in vegetables can be alarmingly high on former chicken farms), do not use just any paint or plastic for raised beds… just because something grows in the garden and is not sprayed does not make it “organic.”
Whether fruit, vegetables, or processed meats, our food is sprayed, treated with additives, and basically manipulated. (Dairy ice cream without milk fat, replaced by vegetable fat).
In my opinion, crop protection and fertilizers are necessary. Food production must somehow meet demand. However, anyone who thinks strawberries can be transported across half of Europe for days without any assistance is as mistaken as believing fruit yogurts are fresh fruit.
Anyone who grows their own apples knows how leathery and sometimes rotten stored apples look in March or April. Such fruit is no longer marketable.
Everything must be cheap, available 12 months a year, free of visible defects, and taste consistent.
What is often missing is a balanced approach.
Limit values must be respected. If this is not possible, the product should not be allowed on the market.
