I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Just document the poor condition of the neighbor’s façade (with the unwanted window, if I remember correctly).

All in all, it looks tasteful, but considering the "natural" house with all that wood, I am still surprised by how much sealed surface area you have, at least visually. I was expecting to see a patch of lawn somewhere.

We didn’t want a lawn. A larger area wasn’t really possible anyway, and small patches of grass are incredibly annoying to mow (speaking from experience—even with a small lawn mower, it’s just a hassle).

The driveway, as mentioned, is made of ecological paving, so it’s not sealed. Once it’s a few years old, moss or similar vegetation will hopefully grow in the (quite large) gaps—except where the car tires prevent any growth. This is exactly why we chose this type of paving. We hope that in a few years it will look something like this
Gravel path with lavender and herb beds on the left.

At the front, where there is currently only an excavator, a low-nutrient meadow and perennial flower beds around the raised bed are planned, and yes, that will be it. The corner at the front boundary is community land, where a meadow is usually planted. Our construction has taken this space, but we will sow a wildflower meadow there, with a request not to mow it.

The access to the trailer parking space (and one of the required parking spots) will also be filled with a low-nutrient substrate, where different types of thyme will grow as groundcover (except where it will be driven over).

The only densely paved area is under the carport (but nothing would grow there anyway) and the terrace at the back.

Unfortunately, we don’t have a property suitable for a park-like garden—nor do we have a gardener for that.

Where the wooden terrace/balcony is or will be, nothing is sealed either, as it is open underneath.

You don’t need a gardener anymore today, thanks to irrigation systems and robotic lawn mowers, making it a joy to look out the window every day (even better when the weather is nice on the terrace).

There are cladding boards on the house and we have an eave overhang, so I don’t think we will have any issues with soil sticking to the facade (after the last two heavy rainstorms here, there was definitely no problem). Mulching is also being done.

The facade is untreated natural wood.

It turned out nicely. Unfortunately, I couldn’t convince my wife to go with an untreated facade, so we chose to gray it. What type of wood is that?

Great plants! Now they are full of fruit, let's see how many we can save from the blackbirds

Here, the birds didn’t touch the serviceberries at all, so we were able to eat them ourselves.

I am always fascinated by the "irregularly boarded" facade. But I also really like the paving with the "fade-out" effect created by larger joints towards the edges.
