I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Fummelbrett!17 May 2020 16:11That looks really great! I’m way too clumsy for hammocks.
But my husband hung a swing in the outdoor seating area. It’s a lot of fun.
I just had to clear out the outdoor seating area. In the upper part of the roof (a quarter of the seating area is built up to the top, where there is a kind of shed), there are pied wagtails nesting. The chicks are having their first free flight practice today. Earlier, one landed right next to me on the bench—I have no idea who looked more surprised, the little bird or me.
There’s still a bit of work waiting for me in the garden bed. Yesterday and today, I planted out almost all of the seedlings, sowed carrots, cut-and-come-again lettuce, parsnips, winter bunching onions, and radishes, and planted one kilogram (2.2 pounds) of onions and pole beans around the bean trellis. As every year, I’m really curious how the gardening season will go.

The man of the house enjoys tinkering, and we work well together in that way. I say how and what I want, he thinks it through and builds it. I just have to paint it afterward.
Lately, I’ve also been trying to improve the plateau behind the house (dry rock garden with clay soil) and remove weeds so that I can temporarily “plant” it with various flower mixes until I have a clear plan for how exactly I want it to look and what should be planted there next year. It definitely looks nicer than the bare soil and for now it hides the weeds.
We also have black redstarts here, but I’ve only ever seen two so far. They might be nesting nearby as well.

Hello everyone,
I’ve spent the last two days milling, collecting stones, and moving "soil." What a dirty ground this is here.
Now I need to get topsoil and fine sand to add a new surface layer... I’ll be setting edge stones, laying gravel, and paving the areas along the wall. A raised bed will be built there, as long as the row of shrubs above, so 9m (30 feet) long... and a second robotic mower will find its home in that bed.
I’m also looking for shade-tolerant grass seed for the area. Does anyone have recommendations?

Do you have an irrigation system? Robot lawn mower?
Then a lawn with a high proportion of Poa supina would be ideal. It grows very well in the shade. So, the older brother is going to get a little sibling, yes.
Unfortunately, I don’t have irrigation... somehow I have a conscience problem wasting water on the lawn when there are people in the world who don't have any, even though I know how important water is for a nice lawn.
But the high Poa supina content really requires a lot of work, too. On the robot mower forum, someone has a lawn with it, and it looks great, but it really uses up the water quickly.
