Hello everyone,

About two weeks ago, we finished sowing the lawn and are now watching it grow. It is growing – even quite tall already (around 7 cm (3 inches)) – but not evenly; there are still some bare spots.
Is this normal? There are still grass seeds in those areas, but they are not germinating.

Good luck

Yes, it looked like that for us too – and it was the same for all the neighbors who sowed grass seed. But don’t worry, it will recover quickly. At the moment, the weather isn’t good for the lawn either. When I see an outside temperature of 42.5°C (108.5°F) on the highway, I can imagine how the lawn must be feeling.

It’s not quite as bad for us – but it was also over 30. Okay. Then I’m relieved.

Good luck

Patience. It will work out. Our landscaper also pointed out that there will initially still be bare patches, and if nothing grows after all, you can always reseed those areas specifically.

It is important to water the lawn regularly in this weather.
Our front yard lawn also initially grew only slowly. Before the next rainy period, I helped it with some starter fertilizer. Now you can clearly see where I didn’t apply fertilizer.

Yes, we water... which is also quite tedious. I have the feeling that not much water actually comes out of the nozzle.
