I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Things are finally starting to move along in the garden... However, we are still about 3-4 weeks behind schedule compared to the last two years.
Thanks to the continuous rain in April and May, our problematic maple tree has made a great start! In its planting year 2019, it unfortunately suffered some drought damage due to the hot summer and planting stress. Hopefully, that's now behind us...
There is still no flowering in the perennial bed. The sage should be the first to bloom in the next few days.
Today it's time for the Chelsea Chop. But some plants don’t even have buds yet that I could pinch off. So everything will probably be a bit slower this year. The coneflowers (at least 10 different plants) have only 1 (ONE) bud so far. Crazy! Last year I had already trimmed dozens by the end of May!

Due to the persistent rain in April and May, our problem child—the maple—has actually had a great start! In its planting year 2019, it unfortunately suffered some drought damage because of the hot summer and planting stress. Hopefully, that’s now behind us...
There’s still no sign of flowering in the perennial bed. The sage should start blooming within the next few days.
Today it’s time for the Chelsea Chop. However, some plants don’t even have buds yet that I could prune. So, everything will probably be a bit slower this year. The coneflower (Echinacea), with at least 10 different plants, currently has only 1 bud. Crazy! Last year I had already pruned dozens by the end of May! I really like your patio furniture! Could you please share more details about it?
We now have a terrace. It’s made with washed concrete pavers, still a bit dirty from the slurry process in the photo. Around the house, we had a strip paved to allow easy walking around.
Now that this is done, I’ve started working on a first “garden design.” I know I’m no Picasso. 😀
I’d be happy to receive feedback or suggestions. The “plants” drawn in are just placeholders for now; we haven’t decided exactly what we want to plant yet.
The stairs on the slope might be moved a bit further to the right (?). The flower beds and their shapes are also just initial ideas. We’ll see.
Around the beds, I’d like to lay some edging using a few brick stones.
Perhaps also around the terrace, to raise it a few centimeters with some nice stones.
