ᐅ Shoes on the patio – where to put them? Would a cabinet be a good solution?

Hi,
we are currently planning our terrace. Due to some unfortunate events, we haven’t managed to finish it yet, even though we have been living in the house for three years. Over time, I noticed that in summer we almost always leave our shoes next to the patio doors. Since these doors are in the kitchen and living room, I hadn’t originally planned any space for that. But as life goes, I’m afraid that won’t change anymore.

How have you handled this? Do you regularly take the shoes out of the hallway and put them away properly? Or do you have a cupboard in the living room where the shoes are stored? Maybe an outdoor cabinet directly on the terrace?

No – but thanks for the reminder to consider that. Most likely, ours will end up in the garage, which can be reached from the terrace with just three steps without getting wet. At the moment, I have an open shelf outside, but there is a balcony above it, so it stays dry. Do you have a covered area, or would it get wet outside?

Exactly, shoes are taken from the shoe cabinet in the hallway, placed outside on the terrace, and brought back into the hallway when coming inside. I wouldn’t put a shoe cabinet in the living room.

Two pairs of slippers for the garden and terrace are allowed inside by the patio door. Nothing else! However, these will be used several times a day.

Inside my mother’s house, there is a doormat by the patio door. There are always two pairs of Crocs placed there. In winter, they often end up in the hallway because people go outside less frequently.

Just like with @ypg.

For something like that, here in the North we have a utility room with a door [emoji16]
