I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

The "plants" are just placeholders for now; we haven't decided exactly what we want to plant yet. And where is the wall or the metal garage? Where would something need to be done there?
If I were you, I would place the terrace all around the house so you can sit more peacefully in the evenings.

Fummelbrett!2 Jun 2021 20:47Today we filled in the trenches for the lawn irrigation. This way, the lawn can finally be mowed on Friday. The vegetable garden still needs a bit more time, as I started late this year – many plants are waiting to be planted in the greenhouse.
Meanwhile, the earth embankment is blooming beautifully again. Last year, we made a rather drastic pruning of the trees, and they have all recovered very well. Now that it’s June, the lily of the valley is finally flowering as well...

I like your patio furniture! Could you please provide more details about it?These are Houe Click chairs, and on the other side there are Fermob chairs (though they are not clearly visible here). The table is the Houe Four. We are very satisfied with them, and the chairs are extremely comfortable!Climbee schrieb:
Think it through carefully; edges are better when mowing the lawn if you can run over them. With raised edges, you always have the problem that some grass is left standing and you then have to trim it by hand.
Why did you choose different paving stones for the area around the house than for the terrace? I would have gone with a uniform look. But you must have had a reason, right? Yes, the reason was the budget. 😉
We also paved in front of the house as well as under the carport and shed. The entire area around and in front of the house is well over 100 m² (1,076 sq ft). The plain rectangular concrete pavers were significantly cheaper. However, for the terrace, those were too simple for us, so we chose textured stones instead. They are still concrete but have a nice rustic look. They also match the simpler ones around the house quite well in color.
Your point about lawn mowing is very valid. I’ve always found it annoying along fences.
For the border, I was thinking of something like this:
Maybe slightly higher towards the flower bed—if that doesn’t use up too many stones—but definitely with an edge toward the lawn suitable for mowing.
Today I’m planning to start with the garden landscaping. It will be exciting since I’m a complete novice and have never done this before. We took over the garden at the rental property in jungle condition. O.O
But luck has been on my side so far; yesterday I scored a great deal and got a pallet of clinker bricks very cheaply. 😱
