I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Above all, water thoroughly rather than frequently in small amounts, so that the roots grow deep. But not with new seed. It doesn’t have deep roots yet… :pLater on, this strategy can help encourage the grass to develop deeper roots.
- Newly sown lawn must always be kept moist. Surface watering is sufficient here, for example, watering for 5 minutes every hour.
- Established lawn should be watered thoroughly 2-3 times a week, preferably in the early morning. The ground is cooler and evaporation is slower. Watering in the evening is not recommended, as moisture can promote fungal growth and diseases. In extreme cases (e.g., golf courses), the dew is brushed off in the morning.
Watering during the day is also possible. Lawns do not “burn” from watering. They survive somehow… The only downside is that much of the water evaporates before reaching the roots. “Burning” mainly affects large-leaved plants, not lawns.
Exceptions include certain grass varieties and very sandy soil. In these cases, daily watering might be advisable.

Hello!
Take a look at our first lawn… we seeded it about one and a half weeks ago.
… We still don’t have full grass coverage where a tree used to be, so we reseeded a few days ago. Today, we also applied fertilizer (ALDI). Let’s see how it looks at the end of June.
Succulents – like many other plants – should not be overwatered! Their roots don’t develop properly and they become delicate.
If you’re starting only from seeds or plant cuttings in the substrate (as was our case), you need to thoroughly moisten them several times, but that’s all. They are meant to be hardy.
There’s nothing worse than planting a new hedge and immediately watering it automatically (electronically). That just produces weak plants. The same goes for lawns – don’t spoil them at the beginning! The roots only grow shallowly, and then you have to keep watering like that forever.
A good lawn is dense because each blade is thick (strong), not because there are many blades!
This is what our relatives drilled into us (holiday camp instructor and head greenkeeper).
