Oh, if it’s not too late: definitely leave them standing! The seed heads become truly beautiful, lasting throughout the entire summer into winter, and even appear as delicate works of art when covered in frost. They look like giant dandelion puffballs. I cut some in winter — they had dried perfectly outside and made very nice decorations.

Mine don’t last nearly until winter, not even the ones that haven’t bent over. They retract too much.
