I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

I like marigolds – I started two planters full of them, which will be planted as companion plants in the vegetable beds.

Does that actually work? Then I’ll have to enjoy looking at them 😀

My raised bed and potato pyramid are full of ants. They are eating my radishes.
Actually, ants don’t usually eat radishes. In general, they don’t consume plants, leaves, or roots. Are you sure it’s not slugs causing the damage? Tagetes (marigolds) are typically a favorite for them – the perfect sacrificial plant.

No, just ants. No snail is crazy enough to pass through so many ants.
Except for a few snails with shells, I haven’t come across any this year so far. My heartfelt thanks to the two drakes across the street.
Ants are the only ones I have discovered there so far, and they are feeding on the radishes. They are more covered than the peonies. Yesterday, I had to wash the radishes outside first.

I also like nasturtiums. I've been trying to grow them from seed in trays for the second year now, but somehow I haven't had much luck. They only germinate very sporadically. Luckily, they self-seed quite well. Here is an interesting variety from last year—small flowers, large plants—that all self-seeded on their own.

I also stand by letting plants self-seed 🙂

But when I read about all the lawn dramas here, I’m really glad we don’t have a lawn. Wow, it’s really a lot of work to keep it looking nice.

I think if we had a lawn, it would be a rustic grassy area, dotted with daisies, dandelions, clover, and various grasses whose names I definitely wouldn’t know.
