I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Our winter holiday, which was postponed to Pentecost, is canceled again. It’s not even a risk area. Officially, we are allowed to travel from today. But what can we expect if the hygiene plans for Friday will only be available around Wednesday evening? The landlord found it too risky to open on the 21st without clear instructions, and for us, it was too short notice. Well, they are easing restrictions way too quickly and all at once. Vaccinated people are acting inconsiderately, and testing has become a mass activity.
I just heard that Emden has to close again as part of a trial scheme because the infection rate rose rapidly...
Edit: Not a trial scheme—I confused that.

I guess I’ll have to get some marigolds as well. My raised bed and potato pyramid are swarming with ants. They’re eating my radishes.I don’t really feel like they help much. I’ve now placed these Neudorff ant bait stations in my organic soil... worked well last year.ypg schrieb:

I just heard that Emden has to close again in the pilot project because the infection rate has risen rapidly... Here, it’s not the vaccinated but the conspiracy theorists.
I can partly understand the decisions, but some of them are nonsense.
Now I have to join the Poa Annua discussion as well. Last year, we also installed sod. It looked fantastic. Unfortunately, over the winter it suffered significantly due to my lack of knowledge at the time and therefore no fertilization. By now, after sanding, aerating, fertilizing, and overseeding, it looks quite acceptable again. However, I fear that I have also introduced Poa Annua to the lawn.
Is this Poa Annua or possibly Poa Pratensis, which is definitely also present in my sod?

Fummelbrett!21 May 2021 12:09I like marigolds – I started two full boxes of seedlings, which will be planted as companion plants in the vegetable beds. Nasturtiums too – they look great and taste good.
My husband bought an excavator and has found a new favorite hobby. We are installing irrigation pipes for pop-up sprinklers in my mother-in-law’s lawn next door. It looks pretty messy at the moment...

Excavator driving 😎 I LOVE it! I got to try it out during the excavation of the foundation pit. It was amazing!
The only construction project we might still take on this year is our garden shed. But due to the availability of timber, we’ve put it on hold. Better than starting and having an unfinished site looming indefinitely.
Instead, we’ll enjoy the new gravel bikes and later have some drinks with little umbrellas or something on the terrace while admiring the flowers 🙂
