I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

But when I read about all the lawn dramas here, I’m really glad we don’t have a lawn. Wow, keeping it looking nice is definitely a lot of work.
I think if we had a lawn, it would be a rustic lawn, scattered with daisies, dandelions, clover, and various grasses whose names I definitely wouldn’t know. Same for us. But nothing should bloom in the play area. Too many barefoot walkers.
Yep. And you can see that it works without a fence, yet everyone still knows where their property begins and ends.
For our immediate neighbors A. and J., we placed a rose arch as a passageway, so people can go around the back without having to ring the bell. This encourages a communicative atmosphere.

Regularly mow with a mulching mower, regularly fertilize with wheat fertilizer N P Mg K. And don’t be too picky, then the lawn won’t be a big deal.Well, I guess it depends on what you want to achieve.
In your photo, I see a lawn that is too long and not very dense. The blades are thin, which is a result of using high-nitrogen chemical fertilizer (tall and long, but not sustainable = broad and dense, weed-resistant). Behind the gate arch, there is clover or thistle spreading across the lawn.
Not that it lacks charm, it’s all fine. But you can also have different goals.
Edit: Ah okay, behind the gate arch is the neighbor. Then maybe give them some tips, they have weeds, and those will soon spread to your lawn ;-)
Your lawn is very long, thin, not dense, and the blade tips look frayed (turn yellow, dull blades, etc.).
We have a groundskeeper in the neighborhood who maintains his lawn at home just like a professional. Forgetting the appearance for a moment, it’s amazing to walk on. It feels like walking on clouds; the lawn literally supports you. He also mows it down to (maximum) 2cm (1 inch), it’s that dense.
