I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

More photos? Okay...
Here is a comparison between April and July. Almost everyone mentioned that spring started later this year; it was the same here because it was just too cool. In the April photo, you can see only a few individual tulips.
The hedge has grown particularly well this year—finally, we no longer have to look at cars and neighbors 😉 In autumn, I will probably trim the hawthorn at the top.

The meadow at the bottom in July after mowing the paths. I urgently need to scythe the rest, and next year I’ll cut it earlier so that biodiversity can improve again. It wasn’t as good this year as last year.

Overall, I didn’t take that many photos this year—it’s like with children: when they are small, you have a picture of every little thing; later on, far fewer and only when relatives ask 😉
Below, the flowerbed in front of the privet hedge, next to the neighbor’s, shown in April and July. I made a bit of a planting mistake—I added a lot of coneflowers, but it’s actually too shady for them. From around 3 or 4 pm (15/16h), depending on the day, the privet does cast quite a bit of shade.
The lilies find the conditions just right, though. Baby’s breath also grows quite vigorously if you don’t cut it back.

The lavender, sage, oregano, and thyme are doing well on the balcony, but the parsley and chives are not happy. The first four prefer sun, while the latter two do not. Mediterranean meets Nordic 😉

Or are there really wood chips made from brains. On the other hand: there are brains made from wood chips :-)
Chives are hardy... so if you planted them for eating, it’s better to avoid direct, strong sunlight. Otherwise, they can handle it. We have some growing on the garage roof among sedum; they suffer a bit in mid-summer but recover.
I once saw this on an East Frisian island, where an entire hall roof was covered with chives. It was just flowering—absolutely stunning...
