I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

The tomatoes need to be harvested now because of the rain… so I'll go ahead and preserve some tomato sauce. The strawberries are flowering again… I'm not sure if that's a good thing… they are supposed to produce plenty again next year 🙄

If it’s allowed, I can also send you a link to the company where I bought the lattice.

That would be great, thank you! Although I think I came across the same supplier in my search; I’m considering the white mix or red-pink options.

I’ll take some photos for you later in full sunlight.

Please do! Pictures often say more than a thousand words. My husband needs to see that kind of thing—he can visualize cables and control panels much better than I can.

As I mentioned, my husband was completely against it at first, but when I said I’d do everything myself and go up on the high garage roof, he took over.

I’ve thought about just presenting him with a done deal and doing it alone. So far, I have only looked into laying the sedum mats—they work like turf rolls. These systems come complete with the substrate and everything, so that should be foolproof. Did you order all the accessories for the substrate and gravel from the same supplier as well?

What I also like is that this mill in Heiligenberg-Steigen at Lake Constance even offers “joint mixtures made of low-growing sedum species,” which I might sprinkle later in the joints of paths, the driveway, or similar areas.

I find the joint mixture interesting too, because I don’t want a fully paved driveway—I want the gaps between the paving slabs to be green. My husband and the landscape gardener want to use gravel and say the weeds will come up on their own.

No, I ordered those from different suppliers. But if Sedum mats are available in your preferred colors, that is certainly a good option. Yellow mixes are not or were not offered in Sedum mats, or I might have missed those offers.

I like that idea. Maybe just because I’m planning to do the same. ;-)

*sigh* I can’t say much more except that neither one should call it “weed” anymore, it’s not politically or environmentally correct. ;-) They are companion plants or wild herbs. ;-)

Here are two photos taken just now, in partial sunlight.

@Costruttrice: Update --> The gaps are still closing up; as mentioned, the green roof was only installed this summer.

A little deception: I am a woman, and my nickname is the name of my cat. When signing up, nothing else came to mind. 😉

My green roof is maintenance-free, the builder said. So far, after 4 years, I haven’t done anything to it.
I bought from the developer, and the green roof was mandatory. Neither men nor women could decide on that. Unfortunate for the men.

@Everyone: Does anyone here in the forum have a green roof and is willing to share experiences and photos? Also from neighbors or friends would be great. That would be wonderful.
Yes, I have a green roof. The flat roof on my home office extension was planted with sedum mats in June 2022 as a DIY project:

This summer, I built a garden sauna. Of course, it has a green roof as well. The cuttings came from the home office extension’s green roof:
