I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Costruttrice30 Aug 2023 09:12@Pinkiponk The green roof looks great and truly lives up to its name! I need to look up “Sprossen” right away. I really want to green our garage roof as well, but my husband isn’t quite convinced yet. He thinks it’s unnecessary and too expensive for “wilted plants.” I’ll show him your photo later to change his mind… 😉

@Pinkiponk The green roof looks amazing and really lives up to its name! I have to look up microgreens right away. I definitely want to green our garage roof too, although my husband isn’t convinced yet. He thinks it’s unnecessary and too expensive for “wilted plants.” So I’ll be showing him your photo later… 😉A green roof is truly wonderful. I’ll take some photos for you later in full sunshine. If allowed, I can also send you a link to the company where I bought the microgreens. You can buy them individually or in mixes like “colorful mix,” “shade/partial shade,” “red mix,” “white mix,” “red-pink mix,” and many more. There’s even a “custom mix.” I chose the “yellow mix” and absolutely love it. I will cover every surface that could remotely be called a roof and seems suitable, with microgreens. ;-)My husband was originally against it too, and if you want to cover 20-25 square meters (215-269 square feet) with mature, ready-to-plant vegetation in your preferred color, it gets expensive. But not with microgreens. (Seeds are even cheaper, but that takes too long for me, and it would probably just become a bird buffet.) I didn’t even know microgreens were available for purchase until I did some research.
What I also find great is that this mill in Heiligenberg - Steigen on Lake Constance even offers “joint mixes of low-growing sedum species” that I might later sprinkle between joints in paths, the driveway, or similar places.
As mentioned, my husband was initially completely opposed, but when I said I’d do everything myself and climb up to the high garage roof, he took over and ended up doing a better and more thorough job than I could have.
@Everyone: Is there anyone else in this forum with a green roof who can share experiences and photos? Neighbours’ or friends’ roofs are also welcome. That would be great.

Pinkiponk30 Aug 2023 09:55Addendum: Does a green roof count as a garden and is it allowed to be discussed in this thread? Maybe if one generously interprets "green roof" as a "roof garden"?

Is it because of the effort involved? Is it some kind of male-female thing? I’m asking because your name suggests you might be a man.
