I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

GREAT
Here in the Mühlviertel region, we are almost 4 weeks later when it comes to harvesting the tomatoes.
Every time I see your garden photos, I wonder how you manage all the work.
Do you work as well? Do you get any help with planting, watering, harvesting, and processing?

I take care of and manage our garden entirely on my own, without any outside help. Now that there is a basic system in place, the work is quite manageable. The watering is done by soaker hoses and sprinklers. I only water the tomatoes by hand. I mow the lawn every 3 to 4 weeks. And yes, I do work as well—not full-time 😉. I have to say I really love gardening. I enjoy being active outdoors and I appreciate when everything is green and blooming and I can harvest delicious fruits and vegetables. Processing the harvest is, of course, part of it too. The planting area isn’t very large—it's 8 by 8 meters (26 by 26 feet), plus a big strawberry patch. The greenhouse and tomatoes pretty much take care of themselves. It’s all doable.

This is very inspiring. Just like your facade color.
The garden is truly inviting as well, so diverse with flowers and greenery everywhere. The abundance of fruit and vegetables is simply great. It really motivates you to try it yourself.

Kati, why not start with 2 or 3 square raised beds? Think of it as square foot gardening.

You won’t get the same yield as Steffi, but it’s still surprising how much you can harvest from just a small vegetable garden.

I haven’t planted my ginger outside this year yet. It’s too cold for it.

The tomatoes are struggling with the weather. For one variety, all the semi-ripe fruit split open and started rotting. On Friday, I got a few tomatoes to snack on. The rest are still green, except for one that’s purple.

Hopefully, it will get a bit drier and warmer. I have 21 varieties this year. Someday I’ll find the perfect tomato—that tastes great and produces well outdoors in heat and rain, with no green shoulders, blossom end rot, or late blight.

The peppers are a total failure. First, the slugs got to them, and what was left isn’t flowering.

Garden with wooden play tower, green slide, well-maintained lawn and hedge; houses in the background.

...now with climbing tower.

Still a bit chaotic, but already colorful and usable for insects and birds.
These are mostly edible plants for Asian cuisine ;-)
Bed with orange marigold flowers and green vegetables on the sidewalk in front of residential houses.

Large yellow sunflowers growing in a planter box on the pavement next to a modern house.

Tall sunflowers in the round planting bed next to the house, stone slab path on the right.

Garden bed with gray stone slabs on the left, grasses, herbs, colorful flowers, wooden fence on the right.

What did you make the wooden room dividers from?
