I thought a garden chat and photo thread would be a good idea.
This way, we have a space to share current pictures and discuss dandelions and other plants.

Lice, yes, the rhubarb is black, and even the tomatoes have some. Last week, I sprayed all the affected plants with black tea. They are now free of lice, but they have moved onto others. So today, I am spraying with black tea again.
Garlic doesn’t help; I planted it between the roses. However, the roses seem to cope well with the lice.
@Wickie you should have laid plain cardboard on the lawn, then put soil on top, and that’s it. This method hardly lets any weeds through.
Coltsfoot is spreading in my vegetable garden. It may be a good host plant for rare butterflies, but it’s taking over my newly sown lettuce.
One of my clematis plants has fallen victim to clematis wilt.

@haydee I decided against the cardboard solution because even supposedly "good" cardboard is still treated (with biocides and worse). I did consider it, it sounds nice and simple—just lay it down and that's it.
Well, now the grass keeps growing through. In the long run, I'll manage it, but it's more of a hassle now.
Clematis wilt is also annoying... Especially when the plants have already reached a certain size.

A sweet cherry tree was struggling with aphids, especially on the young shoots. The tree isn’t very large yet, so I used a strong water jet to remove the aphids. It helps somewhat. My second round of spinach also got aphids, but interestingly not all plants were affected. The strawberry harvest is in full swing—so far, 17 kg (37 lbs)! We have eaten and processed everything. The neighbors were happy, too 🙂. Beans and pickling cucumbers still won’t grow. The photo shows nearly 3 kg (6.5 lbs) of strawberries.

We also have more lice than last year. What I especially notice is that we have few to no ladybugs that would eat the lice. This could be one reason for the lice outbreak. I once read that the ladybugs only arrive after the lice have been around for a while, and that you should wait for them before using chemical treatments. But somehow, the beneficial insects seem to have been wiped out again this year by the surrounding farmers. There are also no lacewings nearby, no parasitic wasps, and so on. Am I being too impatient?
