ᐅ Dishwasher front panels

Hello
Has anyone here already looked into the installation options for dishwasher fronts in the new Metod kitchen system? I have spent some time researching this topic and would like to share my current findings with you:
As I understand it, IKEA now offers the option in Metod to have the dishwasher fronts divided, so they appear as if the dishwasher has multiple drawers. Alternatively, you can install a continuous door as before. This can also be selected in the online planner, which will then display the desired front layout.
Additionally, I found out that Metod requires a special mechanism where the dishwasher fronts slide along rails attached to the dishwasher door. I think it works similarly to the sliding doors on refrigerators.
What isn’t clear to me yet is whether this special sliding mechanism is mandatory with Metod, or if you can still mount the front fixed directly to the dishwasher door as before. Does this have something to do with the different plinth height between Metod and Faktum?
If you want to attach multiple partial fronts to the dishwasher door, you need the Vaglig (20250663) product. This consists of two rails that hold the partial fronts together. But as far as I understand, this does not include the sliding mechanism itself.
For the sliding mechanism, you then need either Resonlig (50248348) or Behjälplig (50242426). The difference between these two seems to be that they fit different dishwasher models (Resonlig for Skinande, Rengöra, and LAGAN; Behjälplig for Hjälpsam). However, I have not yet figured out which one is needed for a non-IKEA dishwasher.
There is also Ersättare (00250664), which appears to be an installation solution for semi-integrated dishwashers. Since IKEA does not offer semi-integrated appliances in their range, Ersättare is probably designed specifically for non-IKEA models that you want to install in Metod. I have also looked at the installation instructions for Ersättare, but some things are still unclear to me:
As I understand it, the lower part of the front must be a partial front with a height of 20cm (8 inches), which is hinged in such a way that it flips open when the dishwasher door is opened. Does this mean that a continuous front is not possible with semi-integrated dishwashers???
Additionally, the instructions state that the upper partial front, also 20cm (8 inches) high, must be cut to size depending on the dishwasher’s trim height. I assume this would only apply to fronts without embossed patterns, because if, for example, I cut a Lidingö front (which has an embossed pattern) in the middle at 20cm (8 inches), I would be cutting through the design?
Since I want to install an existing dishwasher with a semi-integrated front in my new Metod kitchen with Lidingö/Bodbyn fronts, I am currently puzzled about how the installation should actually look.
Since Metod will be available in Austria from April 1st, I will definitely ask IKEA then.
Does anyone already know the answers to my questions?
Best regards

Thank you very much for the quick and clear feedback and information.

Either way, we will have to buy the dishwasher this week, as the new kitchen will be delivered in less than 2 weeks (we are already dreading the countless boxes), and it would be really suboptimal if only the dishwasher were missing.
Honestly, I find all the criticism of the appliances hard to understand.
Among other things, I have had a dishwasher for almost 15 years (bought as a clearance item), back when appliances were supposedly "worse," and I have never had a single problem to this day...

Great that you’ve had such luck with your clearance dishwasher deal.
However, we have spent weeks on various review platforms and in large appliance stores researching nothing but dishwashers in all variations, because our now almost vintage Miele unit has developed several issues and repairing it is not worthwhile.
Unfortunately, IKEA appliances have never received particularly good reviews, and some owners have shared critical feedback as well. Considering that the identical models sold by other brands distributed at IKEA (Whirlpool-Bauknecht or Electrolux-AEG) are cheaper, we decided against the IKEA dishwashers.

However, we did include the built-in oven, ceramic cooktop, and extractor hood in our kitchen order from IKEA.

It’s good that you received the pull-out hinge. Whether you can actually install it due to the technology of your alternative device is another question...

That is exactly our question—whether we could install the AMICA dishwasher models EGSP 64511V or EGSP 64501V with these hinged supports in our kitchen. Both have a height of 816 mm (32 inches), and since the IKEA countertop is 880 mm (35 inches) high, I would think that the 4 mm (1.6 inches) difference is no problem, or am I wrong? (Math has never been my strong suit.)

You can also buy a 60x60 cm (24x24 inches) door and a 60x20 cm (24x8 inches) panel in the matching decor and connect them with a “hinge,” which you can also buy at IKEA. Then the narrow front panel below folds open when the dishwasher door is opened. This also works with third-party appliances, but from the outside, you’ll have the look of a split front.

We had already considered this option, but we would much prefer a completely uniform front on the kitchen run including the dishwasher, so only the large, consistent cabinet doors at the bottom.

Thank you very much for your support!

Many thanks for the quick and clear feedback and information.

Thanks to that, with our preferences (including the cutlery drawer and height-adjustable upper baskets), we are left with the two AEG appliances:
AEG F 88700VI 1P or AEG FAV2.0VI1P.

Originally, we had chosen two models from the company AMICA, AMICA EGSP 64511V or AMICA EGSP 64501V.
Both are listed with a height of 816 mm (32 inches). If we then also had the sliding hinge to assist, the blonde part of me would say that the difference of only 4 mm (0.16 inches) should work. Or am I misunderstanding again?

I am really curious to see how this drama will end. Many thanks for your support!

Hello,
BEHJÄLPLIG is now being offered again in Austria and might also become available in Germany again.
The problem with BEHJÄLPLIG is, firstly, that the dishwasher must have a front panel mounting system designed for two screws on the side of the door. This is becoming increasingly rare. Secondly, there can be issues with units that are 81.5 cm (32 inches) tall because when the door opens, the front panel sticks out significantly from the appliance door, which can cause the front panel to scrape against the top. This often leads to clips popping out or breaking. In short, I would avoid BEHJÄLPLIG if at all possible.

I have hardly read anything about the quality of Amica so far. This could be due to a very small market share or simply because there are few complaints. These appliances are made in Poland. As long as the current government remains in power, I would prefer not to support Polish products.

Who has not experienced the problem with a dishwasher where, for example, some glasses are just too tall to fit inside? A cutlery drawer reduces the height even further. Therefore, I would always choose a large-capacity dishwasher (XXL) if it fits in the kitchen.

If someone does not want to buy an IKEA appliance due to some negative reviews about washing and drying performance, I don’t see why they would choose a dishwasher from the same manufacturer labeled as AEG.

The ideal choice would be a large-capacity dishwasher from BSH with a Vario hinge system, or an XXL model from Miele. However, these are usually outside the budget if a cutlery drawer is required.

Another option is a tall dishwasher where the front panel is mounted to overlap at the top. However, in that case, the kitchen plinth needs to be adjusted to 9 cm (3.5 inches).

Thank you very much for the quick and clear feedback and information.

Thanks to that, with our preferences (including the cutlery drawer and height-adjustable upper rack), only two AEG models remain for us:
AEG F 88700VI 1P or AEG FAV2.0VI1P.

Originally, we had selected two models from AMICA, AMICA EGSP 64511V or AMICA EGSP 64501V. Both are listed with a height of 816 mm (32 inches). If we then add the BEHJÄLPLIG sliding hinge, the blonde in me would say that with the difference of only 4 mm (0.16 inches), it should work. Or am I mistaken again?
ADDENDUM: I just read the post from the IKEA expert, so I have withdrawn from the AMICA / BEHJÄLPLIG combination again.

Ideally, a BSH large-capacity dishwasher with a Vario hinge or an XXL from Miele would be perfect. However, these do not fit within the budget if it must have a cutlery drawer.

In the meantime, I went to the big Saturn store in downtown Hamburg and apparently found the only salesperson for large electrical appliances who has thoroughly dealt with this issue and seems to understand it (at least that’s how it appears). Except for the XXL devices using the BEHJÄLPLIG hinge, there are only two Siemens models (and their identical Bosch counterparts) that come factory-equipped with such a hinge. These naturally have a rather high recommended retail price but offer Zeolith drying, which positively impacts energy costs. One has an RRP of €1,699 and the other €1,099 (though these would be cheaper with the price guarantee).
Apparently, the topic of fully integrated dishwashers, fronts, and fittings has been the most interesting and extensive since the introduction of Metod (already around 30 pages), so I will provide the different models later, as I do not have the documents with me right now.

By the way, this is a great site; I’m happy to have found it!

We installed the dishwasher (Neff S52L60X0EU) over the weekend. The plinth was adjusted to 9cm (3.5 inches), the dishwasher recessed almost flush with the cabinet, and the front panel was allowed to protrude 2.5cm (1 inch) at the top – everything worked perfectly.

What bothers me a bit about the new XXL machines from BSH is that the upper basket is mounted differently compared to older XL dishwashers. It sits lower and can only be adjusted further down. As a result, you have to use a bit of a workaround to fit a baking tray inside. In the older models, you could stand a baking tray almost upright because the upper basket was mounted slightly higher.
